As part of the objectives established by the Angolan Government in the PDN, which aims to ensure access to electricity for the entire population to improve social conditions, the “Rural Electrification Project of Mussulo” was inaugurated on Friday, March 22, in a ceremony presided over by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, accompanied by the Governor of Luanda Province, Manuel Homem, and senior officials from the Energy sector, the Provincial Government, and guests.
The signing of the document was carried out by the President of the Board of Directors of ENDE, Hélder de Jesus Adão, responsible for the project, and the main contractor of Marck Cables, Elisio Augusto.
The launch of the project will cover the neighborhoods of Buraco, Ponta da Barra, Pior, Cambaxi, Mussulo Centro, Macoco, Farol das Palmeirinhas, and Tapo.
This project will benefit around 21,600 families and include the installation of 26 PTs, 3,600 household connections, and public lighting at 950 points, ensuring a better quality of life for residents.
It is worth noting that with the implementation of the electricity grid, foundations will be laid for strengthening tourism activities, developing the fishing sector, and reducing pollutants through the use of clean energy sources.
During his speech, the minister highlighted that with the electrification of Mussulo, many of the population’s problems will be resolved. He also mentioned that His Excellency, the President of the Republic, directed that Mussulo should have access to electricity and that the project would be completed by the end of this year.
For the Water sector, João Baptista Borges emphasized that soon the water supply problem will be solved with a pipeline coming from Ramiros.
The Governor of the Province, Manuel Homem, in turn, called on the population to preserve these public goods and report acts of vandalism.
After the ceremony, the officials visited the Mussulo market and the medical center. To conclude the activities in Mussulo, the Governor activated the circuit breaker for the public lighting connection.
