The Ministry of Energy and Water held, on September 27 and 28 of the current year, the 12th Advisory Council of MINEA at the Auditorium of the Catholic Church “Dom Armando Amaral dos Santos” in the province of Benguela, under the theme “Energy and Water: Towards Expansion and Improvement of Service Quality.”
During the opening session, His Excellency, the Governor of the Province of Benguela, Luís Manuel da Fonseca Nunes, extended a warm welcome, expressed gratitude for choosing the province as the event venue, and committed to cooperate in addressing the needs of the population. This includes the implementation of new investment projects to accommodate the region’s growth.
The Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, expressed appreciation for the collaboration with the Government of the Province of Benguela. He emphasized the importance of attracting investments and public-private partnerships, along with the necessity of adjusting market models, tariffs, and sustainability of public enterprises. The Minister underscored the significance of improving revenue collection and reducing costs in this process.
The objective of the event was to assess the compliance with the recommendations of the 11th Advisory Council, covering topics such as the review of the Sector Action Plan 2018-2022, market models, tariff efficiency, sustainability of companies, and the presentation of the Sector Action Plan for the period 2023-2027.
In addition to the sessions, parallel events took place, including a visit to the Biópio photovoltaic plant and the inauguration of the ENDE Regional Dispatch Center in the municipality of Lobito, Benguela province, as part of the strategy for technological evolution in distribution services.
During the inauguration ceremony, João Baptista Borges emphasized the center’s importance for the efficiency of the National Electricity Distribution Company. The Minister also demonstrated solidarity by donating a three-wheeled motorcycle to José André, a 30-year-old with physical disabilities.
The event saw the participation of local authorities, representatives from various provinces and ministries, board members of sector companies, partners, guests, and other virtual participants, totaling 224 attendees.
